I think its way too busy. A good logo should look great and have the same visual power in black and white. I think this logo would suffer. Also, good logos should originate in a vector format so they can be resized to any dimensions without issue....this looks like it was done in photoshop.

I agree - it is way to busy and unless you are marketing primarily to spanish speaking clients, I would lose the spanish phrase as well.Looking at the logo, I could not tell you at all what services you are offering!

Oh my goodness no! Way too busy. And totally agree with Karl, try this as a black and white, no shades of gray. I bet you can't right now.

Take a look at that list. While they aren't all in black and white I can guarantee they all have black and white versions of their logo.

I just need to have another vote for Too Busy.

The Monogram styled letters are too large a loopy and just look like a mess one top of everything else.

why did you want to know what we think if you are just going to say that it's what the client wants?

It's tough to "work" with family! I designed my dad's site and he really wanted "Comic Sans" font on the site and the logo. I didn't argue.

I use Illustrator to design my logos (vector).

I also use Illustrator for logos.

I don't think anyone was saying that the logo has to be in black and white only. A good rule of thumb is making a logo look good in black and white before color. The reason being is because you never know where the logo will have to be reproduced. It may go in a publication that is only black and white, then what?

When I design a logo, I design it in black and white first. Then I will add color or take it into photoshop to spice it up. This way I always have a black and white vector logo that can be reproduced any way I like.

Clients always have set ideas what they want, but its also your job to guide them and direct them. Granted this is family, but that still shouldn't stop you from providing design guidance.

As cheesy as it is, its still a web safe font. To be honest, I could live with Comic Sans...nothing drives me crazier than the abuse of the Papyrus font. The Avatar movie using it really made me laugh. Such a high scale production and they use the same font that every 2-bit wannabe designer abuses.

True. Funny about the Papyrus font. Before I knew better....I used Papyrus on my first logo.

We all have done some stupid things. Some of us learn the hard way. My first "real" logo was for this band I was in. I designed it in photoshop, at 8.5 x 5 @ 300dpi. I used stupid lighting effects on it and such. It never stopped coming back to bit me in the a$$.

I am sure I abused the papyrus font back in the day too. There is a reason why experience is valued....and its usually because at certain points people figure you have made enough dumb mistakes to learn from.
