Default British Grand Prix

Some images from practice and qualifying of the British Grand Prix at Silverstone. I managed to stay awake long enough to snap these. I really do hate Silverstone, it's impossible to get a decent angle!

I'll try and process the rest some time soon, but right now I've lost the will to live (a Grand Prix support race will do that to you). Thanks for looking, comments / questions welcome... oh, and I was wandering about Silverstone all day long with a POTN strap and no-one said hello... don't you lot GO anywhere?

Edit : The full gallery of shots from the day is now available

British GP Practice and Qualifying

Thanks for looking!

Nice captures Glenn. Particularly like the Minardi and Williams angles, looks like Ralf is looking at you. What was the support race? Maseratis?

Usual stuff "GP 2" (what they now call Formula 3000 to make it sound more interesting) and the Maserati Challenge.

The BRDC Classic Sportscar race tomorrow will probably be the best race of the weekend. It usually is.

It is nice to see some really good F1 shots for a change Glenn. Those are excellent in all respects.

For those who think you have to have very high shutter speeds for F1, Glenn's shots are at 1/320 apart from the pan which is 1/250. That's why they retain the feeling of action and movement. I know a few pros at Silverstone who would go home happy with shots like that,

I'm leaving here at 5am for Brands, the Minis, and a bikini clad grid girl. Me thinks half a gallon of Red Bull to keep me awake won't go amiss. Although I reckon when I get there the grid girl will have my full attention and all thoughts of sleep will have gone.

Awesome shots!

Ubiquitous question to any post: What kit did you use for these?

Were they all shot from the public areas too?

Wish I'd have got down to Silverstone, too expensive though!

We're not good enough to be allowed in to F1 races! That's why we rely on you to show us the shots.

Seriously though, I'd love to go, but it's not worth the 90 quid to get a shot of the back of someone's head or a bloody loudspeaker which are all round Luffield!

Great shots as always!

Why not just pay £10 and go on a testing day.And see them ALL day not just for 1hour or so .

Nice shots mate .I bet you had to elbow a few people out of the way to get the shots ?.Or did you use your HUGE 500mm ,and shoot over there heads.

You're restricted to viewing from one corner on test days.

Nice pic of my fellow-countryman Tiago Monteiro driving the yellow jordan!!!

Did you know that he has finished all the races this season?
