So my soon to be wife and I will be spending 3 weeks in Europe in September for our honeymoon. We both love photography very much and are looking forward to shooting a few (thousand) frames in Europe. Our general plan of cities we want to see goes something like this.
London > Paris > Amsterdam > Munich > Salzburg > Italy (Venice, Rome) I've searched through this forum a lot for Europe and specific cities but if anyone has any recommended places to snap a few frames i'd love to hear any feedback. Whats your favorite shots, favorite cities, sights to see, whats overrated? Our gear consists of 5D2, 24-70, 70-200 2.8 IS, and we'll probably add a wide angle (17-40 f4). We have a flash as well. What gear should we take, do we need to take it all. Do we leave the 70-200 at home given its size? I think it might be nice for some distant shots of things like castles but again is it worth the hassle? Any recommendations on a small tripod that would be good for travelers or should that be left at home as well? Thanks in advance.

in Paris, Saint Germain is a very nice district but on the other hand, the entire city is so beautiful... Marais is very nice as well, small streets, very european...
Venice and Rome is just a bit too touristy imo... if you have time, check out Asolo (bout 30 min by car from Venice) it's a very small town on top of a hill... very charming... quiet... Positano, south of Naples on the amalfi coast is amazing... the colors... oy! but sounds like a great trip!!! have fun!

Depending on your shooting style, the 70-210 is a lot of weight to haul around day in day out, do you use it a lot for urban shooting? Paris is a beautiful city, there are some great galleries, the Cartier Bresson Institute is well worth a visit, food is great too.I enjoyed Le Defance, full of modern buildings and just wandering around taking photographs of the cafes etc. I used an 18-50 on a Fuji S3 when I last went, I would go with just the 24-70 but would be tempted to get the 17-40. In paris I only wanted to go wider. In London, I am fond of The Barbican Centre and along the river around the South Bank and the Tate Modern, then there is Erno Goldfinger's masterpiece Trellick Tower. There is a lot to see and do in Paris and London and in the case of London I have tried to suggest places that are not so common. There is also a nice boat that goes from Camden Lock to the Trellick as well. I live 50 miles north of London so if you have any Qs pm me
