Without being too harsh, you need to get control over your lighting and white balance.
Don't be offended...these are just MY opinions... Lighting in 1 is too harsh (sun), 2 has a nasty shadow from your flash, 3(probably the best of the lot) is a bit under-exposed(on the subject) and could have used some fill flash (-2 to -3 stops) with an exposure to balance with the background, 4 has flat lighting (dip the bride's shoulder towards the camera), 5 - Don't know what's going on here. Silhouette against a plain background with a true profile. 6 & 7 are nice. 8 - again, the high shoulders and flat lighting. Keep working at it! Check out Neil Van Niekerk's site! |

A shame that jpg quality has gone downhill upon uploading.
Keep a consistent WB throughout the set, otherwise it looks messy. Not a fan of overly big and distracting watermarks. |

Hey, who doesn't want to be loved forever?
1) Nice shot. A tad too much fill but not overly offensive. Good detail in the dress. Safe, a little boring but nice shot... Not the most flattering angle of her. If you just let one side of the face stay in shadow a bit, it thins the face and would have been a little more flattering. Or if her face was turned slightly so that you see the outline of her rt cheek, it would have also been more flattering. 2) Just WAY too much fill. This kills this shot for me. Maybe she'll like it, though? 3) This is the best shot, imo. She's not at all a large girl, but she has a round face and she looks bigger than she is in many of these. (I have yet to find a client that doesn't want to look skinny) This is the most flattering of her. I think she'll love it. 4) This is nice... No real critique here. 5) I like the idea but the branches are interfering with our view of her face so it almost works... Next time watch your backgrounds a little closer? 6) I like this one. I'd prefer to see the eyes in focus and the flowers out, but that's personal preference. 7) "Wow, look at my rock" shot. It's ok, not my style. 8) Nice shot. She looks good, coy expression. If you drop the bouquet slightly and let there be a little bit of separation between her waist and the inside of her elbow, she'll look A LOT thinner. Trust me, that's the most important negative space ever filmed. Overall nice shots. I'm sure she'll be happy and that's the real test. I actually like your logo but it is a bit strong in my opinion. Have you considered keeping it, but just cutting the opacity down on it so it doesn't dominate? Cheers.

I have a question. Were you a tag along for this session? In a very long number of photos, she looks like she's posing for someone else. I apologize if this isn't the case, but I am of the mind that if you were not the primary photographer, you should disclose that. I think there are quite a few lighting and posing issues with these, but she is very cute indeed.

FILL FLASH......I repeat...FILL FLASH....... Or reflectors or anything to light your subjects appropriately. And yeah she definitely looks to be staring at someone else?
Just get a handle on your lighting and you will be ahead of the game. |

I love #4! And hey, nice name. It's very rare that I see an Alyssa that spells it the same way I do.
