Anyone care to put forward some suggestions for great photography locations in Orlando? About to go on vacation and need some suggestions please. Exclude the normal tourist traps like Disney etc. :D

Here's a few:

Epcot -- I'm not sure what you consider a "tourist trap", but in my estimation, you could wear out a camera in a day at Epcot.

Daytona Beach at sunrise

Harry P. Leu Gardens

Kermit Weeks' Fantasy of Flight in Polk City is a great aviation museum. Almost all the aircraft there are airworthy too, and either Kermit or one of his people usually do a demonstration flight of one of them around mid-day most days.

The Brevard Zoo (about 45 minutes away) is surprisingly a really good zoo, and even has a man-made river you can kayak in order to get closer to birds, gators, etc.

Thank you. bw!

Check out Old Town in Kissimmee (external link). Especially when they have a cruise night on.

Don't forget to photograph surfing (if you have a dslr and a decent lens). Cocoa Beach Pier and Sebastian Inlet State Park are great places to photograph birds and surfing.

Vierra has some really good wildlife.

Kennedy Space Center and Canaveral Sea Shore.

None of what I mentioned is in Orlando, but they're all within an hour's drive.

And don't forget to go to Google Earth to find the unexpected.

Thank you. bw!

It has been 30+ years since I've seen it but the Lake Eola park in Orlando is very pretty. Well at least it was, I hope it been taken care of.
