I am new with my first dslr. I have the xs and am using my photos to sell my clothing.
I think it looks good but I want to know if it really does. Thank you. ![]() |

It is a nice shot. But if the jacket is the main subject it needs a little bit more light as it is a bit underexposed with too much of shadow and dark patches to really make the details visible.
Also try to find the "optimal" pose and angle where the most of the detail and the cut of the jacket is visible. When shooting fashion the dress is more important than the model.

If you look at the levels histogram, most of the tonality is clustered at the black end. This verifies the observation that the coat is underexposed. However, there are two other peaks, as you can see. I think they're from the backdrop and model's skin, but I can't swear to it. What gets me is that there's that deep valley in between. The mid-range is not adequately represented. I'm not a fashion photographer, so I can't give you informed advice on how to more evenly distribute the tonal range. Perhaps have the model wear midnight black instead of charcoal gray? Also experiment with backdrop colors other than taupe?

I think it's a good shot, but I also think the model could come up with a better smile.

The coat isn't really standing out from the clothes underneath. The brown on blue combo does not work in my opinion.

with another background and a bit brighter exposure the clothes will be looking better.
Here a quick edit on it. IMG_5159-1.jpg

What were you using for light? Aside from the underexposure, I think it could use a little more 'pop' from more contrasty light.
