Default Little Camera on Big Camera

I guess this makes the Panasonic Lumix the accessory?

Took me forever to get hold of the right adapter for the job.

Does it take shots at the same time you press the shutter on the 7d?

Ah, no, sorry, I didn't explain. I'm using it to get HD video at the same time as I'm shooting 8fps 18mp stills There's no electronic connection between the two - the hotshoe just provides a mounting point.

Only watched about 2 minutes of the video, the lack of hand brake action was a little disappointing.

It's surprised me how many people have been asking for help doing the exact same thing (3 if I remember correctly). I did this a while back for a laugh, never thought people would find a practical use for it.

great idea, in todays day and age with so many photographers 'social networking' and posting about shoots and images, this is a great way to capture some extra action. I love to see behind the scenes videos from shoots. Mostly in action sports ...

i still think a flash bracket would be a better idea.

btw, i could only watch half the vid. r32 opens it up nicely, then it gets pretty boring.

Oh yeah, I could get a lot better at editing out the crap parts of the video, but for the guys at the event, they do all wanna see it. About halfway through it switches up and I move away from the hairpin and get other parts of the sprint. But hey, these guys care about time, and an entertaining turn is different than a fast one

It'll be interesting to see what the collection of clips looks like that I get from a football game - panning tends to be more erratic, so the video could be good for inducing motion sickness...

Brilliant! Now that looks more like my first attempts - way too cumbersome. The breakthrough for me was finding a lightweight off the shelf adapter that still provided enough control.

no, i totally understand. not everyone has pro skills either. everyone's at different levels, too. some have been driving all their lives; some are just starting out. it's like that at events in socal too.

it'd be kind of cool if you switched it up and took video with the 7d and snapped with the Lumix

Does your mount swivel to the left and right and not just up and down? I stick my flash on top of mine and so need movement to the right for when I'm shooting in portrait, it is cumbersome but it's the only ballhead I could find and all the other mounts only tilted up and down.

I'm pretty impressed with the video from that little camera.

Yeah, the 7D does better video, but the lumix does video better... not sure if that makes sense in other people's heads..

The swivel is only up down, but left right adjustment is possible by adjusting the screw position at the base.

Sorry, what I meant was tilt to the left and right. Shame, something a bit smaller than what I currently have would be a lot better.

No, there's not a left-right tilt directly. Of course if you swivel it sideways the up-down becomes a left-right...
