I run my entire website, blog and portfolio through Wordpress and I want to start selling some photos online.
Is anyone familiar with a Wordpress plugin that leans more towards the selling of photgraphs vs the many I've found that are for digital downloads, etc. I'm a web developer by day, so I'm very web and programming savvy.
Thanks!

I'm thinking about making a jump to wordpress. Mind if I see what you are doing with your site currently?

Of course. It's still a work in progress.

Ignore the poor thumbnail image quality. I have an open Wordpress ticket out regarding that.

I am using a heavily modified version of the Gridline Lite theme:

If you want a more automated approach, what I have done is also set up a smugmug acocunt (though the pro account costs around $140/yr) you can sell prints and digital licenses pretty easily from smugmug. What I then do is within my wordpress blog instead of uploading the image I insert an embeddable link to the smugmug gallery. so when you click on the photo in my wordpress blog you goto smugmug. I've started doing this for two reasons
smugmug sell prints and take care of all the order fulfilment / credit card processing
secondly I don't need to resize my images for different websites, I export directly from my lightroom catalog a full size image to smug mug. then just link to a smaller version in my blog.

anyway my workflow is still in flux, but at the moment I like this solution.
You can check out how this works in the last three posts in my website link below my signature

You could also get a zenfolio account. You can sell through there and through their API, there is a way to display photos uploaded automatically on your blog.

I print and frame my photos using White House Custom Color.
Do both Zenfolio and Smugmug allow for printing and shipping via an external company?

Thank you, though I can't take credit for it. I stole the idea from several other photographer's blogs I follow. You're right, I'll definitely add that info in future wallpapers. Thanks!

zenfolio does, i know that.

I use them as my online fulfillment company, though have yet to set up custom products that i fulfill myself. I prefer to fulfill myself so I can put the personal touch ...and I don't like how mpix's canvas' backings
plus it is far cheaper to do yourself.

however framing is way cheaper, somehow.
I just ordered 2 12x18" metallic prints, backed and luster sprayed, with non-glare glass and which look nicely framed, with a mat..........300$.
...maybe they dont know where i live yet....

...since this thread has been bumped, I popped over to your site and I love your shopping cart system! What did you eventually decide to use?

Thanks everyone!

I ended up going with PhotoShelter (external link) for my cart. It's not cheap, as I pay 29.99 a month, but it's fully customizable if you have a little HTML and CSS knowledge. The shopping cart actually makes the user leave my site (you can see the URL change), but I've designed everything to look the same, so that no one would know the wiser.

I still have a little bit of work to do on some of the pages, and a lot more photos to add to the galleries, but I've been very happy with it so far.

I would recommend zenfolio. Check out my website. Everything is wordpress except the tab at the top that says "all photos." That takes you to my zenfolio page where you can buy prints.

To add something like that to your existing site you would only need to add a "page" and forward it to zenfolio, which you can make a subdomain so the urls are all the same

Edit: Just saw the original date of the post, guess i'm kind of late
