2 1/2 weeks ago I bought a 32gb SDHC memory card for my Go Pro HD Hero for my California trip I just got back from. The card was $45 (I submitted that best offer of $45 for a $56 card and he took it) and upon returning home this week, I find that well over half of my video files are corrupt and un-playable.
After searching and trying a few repairers, I have had no luck. The camera take H.264 mp$ video, and apparently it's hard to repair.... The one thing that I have found is "Treasured". It's a problem specific repair program that the software author tailors specifically for each individual problem. It's the only thing I've found to fix my corrupt H.264 mp4 video files. It has a preview section that shows stills from the video, and it looks good. I submitted a bad video and a good one with the same settings, and they said they could build me a reusable repair pack for $140. I am going to go to the Ebay seller and demand my money back, but I'd also like to make him pay for my fees to fix the bad video. This camera works just fine with my other memory card, and is rated up to 32gb so I know it isn't the camera's fault or user error or anything. Thoughts? Other options that I don't know about?

best of luck.. i doubt that you will get any recourse back on the seller. That is why the players like Sandisk sell their Extreme III products for such a high price.. Better insides and they stand behind the products.
What you are asking is like buying a Lada over the internet and entering it into Le Mans and then going back to the seller for not only a refund, but all your costs as the engine blew up after the first 2-3 hours. Chalk it up to a learning experience. Buy the proper cards to start off with. and don't trust your whole vacation to a single card. If you were shooting a wedding or a special event, you would probably use 5-10 cards as if one of them went dud, at least you have the others that have something to pull your bacon out of the fire. Matt.

If the video plays back properly on the camcorder but not in your computer, then I doubt its the memory card. You could be missing codec files in your computer to properly play the video.

I know when I record video with my Kodak ZX1, Canon SX20is or Panasonic HD camcorder, the cards I use have to be at least 4 speed or faster (they suggest 6 or more for best performance during recording and playback). Whenever I get a new SDHC card, I pop it into one of the cameras, and then let it fill it up. I do this at least twice to make sure the card doesn't have any problems while video is being streamed/recorded to it. I also transfer big files (500-1Gb) onto and off of the card a couple of times to make sure it can handle it. So far I have only come across one bad card (a 16Gb that I quickly returned and got two 8's instead). Imo, if something bad were to happen, I would rather have it happen to a smaller card than a big one. |

I love mine, too. It's amazing. Now I just need to buy a new big card that will work. I've been shooting with canon soo long that I didn't have any SD cards anymore. I spend good money to get good CF cards, but I thought I could skimp a little on an SD card. Oops.
