Soft-Proofing would be nice but I can live without it.

You want to put them in:

Does anyone know if I want to uninstall LR3Beta2 before or after installing the live version?

Thanks.

It will remove the beta for you and keep your preferences.

Doesn't your printer driver offer a print preview? That's what I rely on even when printing from PS.

This was probably a tongue in cheek response but, seriously, I've been at a couple of LR seminars where the folks at Adobe said they see no need for softproofing in LR so, I wouldn't expect to see it anytime soon.

If you upgrade your desktop via download, how do you also upgrade or install a version on your laptop. That is legally permissible isn’t it? Do you just need to order a CD?

Yes, it's legal to have a copy on your laptop also. You can do that with a download also; just enter your serial number when you get it to register it.

So you're saying that LR3 doesn't process the 30D RAW files very well? What does it not do, that LR 1.4 does?

I'm still using my 30D and want to upgrade to LR3.

Processing of 30d files should have improved significantly between 1.x and 3.0. If it hasn't, you have something else going on.

While I don't know every printer, in the ones I have had, all Epsons, the driver's preview has not been color managed. IOW, it doesn't preview colors and gamut, only position on the paper.

Bought Lightroom3 last night. Already reprocessed some wedding photos, printed and framed today. Awesome!

I haven't gotten around to DL LR3 yet. I'm confused by what skygod says. His post seems to imply that he likes the 30D raw files better out of 1.4 than 3.0
