Default Extreme downhill

Kinda. There's a path there but I chose a terrible angle and you can't see it, though I couldn't really have shot it from any higher unless I shot it wide. It was more for fun than anything, my friend in the photo was looking after his mated DH bike and we thought we'd stage something extreme looking. Well, dramatic. I was using my other friends cousins 7D for the shot, and I couldn't work out how to select a single focus point, so it's slightly OOF, ah well. Three lights, SB-24, 28 and 540EZ on Cybers.

I find it interesting that everyone around here seems to think centered shots work better. I got it in my other thread the other day, too. Any skate or bmx photo forum will tell you avoid centering your shots like the plague.

I think the reason here is because the green grass is lit up nicely and the biker is lost in the shadows. Bring him towards the center and he becomes the subject. Did you use any strobes on this shot?

Totally agree and thought that was funny in your thread too. I think this shots pretty good. Rule of thirds....

The lit up area is showing a berm on the track which adds to the scene. I like shots lit like this. The only issue for me is his back tire is still on the jump.

I did indeed use flashes, I noted them in the OP.

Cheers. Though the thing with this is that it was kinda staged, he's not actually jumping the path, just dropping off the wall thing, so any later and he'd be a bit lower which would look kinda sus, y'know?

My mistake, I didn't catch that in the OP.

I've got some more info here. Though the power settings are just me guessing, I can't remember what they were actually on, but it was in the vicinty of what I posted.
