Challenge #281 - Out of Place

Misfit. Juxtaposition. Odd man out. Uncomfortable. One of these things is not like the others, just doesn't belong. Square peg in a round hole.

Show something/someone that looks totally out of place in the surroundings.

Comments:

Why yes, I do... by Kevan_G9
I confess to a fascination with zombies and I just recently enjoyed watching Zombieland. A great grouping of posters, and this bloke's attention is caught by the most absurd one of all. Great capture, great moment and a good example of street photography that works in color. Very funny shot. But I wonder - is it the zombie or the human who is out of place?

Shrimp Cheerleader: Long Beach Marathon by Maureen Souza
That is one ridiculous costume. I have a hard time imagining a scenario where it would NOT be out of place. Still, with the yellow t-shirt and the background banner advertising Bubba Gump Shrimp Company, the fuzzy semi-anime shrimp seems to be right at home in this crowd.

In Brooklyn Any Building Can Go Condo by JimAskew
I bet tenants just love this building. Nobody gets stuck here for very long, the management doesn't take any c**p from the residents and moving out goes very smoothly. Out of place? In Brooklyn? Fuggedaboudit.

Lone Chair by Car
What a lovely view, great scenery and great... WING CHAIR? This thing does NOT belong here - how and why did it get transported to this particular spot? Even the color doesn't fit with the surroundings. I love it!

So this is Canada, eh? by teekay
Is that an ostrich? A camel? Maybe it's a hybrid. Reins on it? For a rider? Nothing about this creature makes sense, least of all where it is - in the neighbor's backyard. The fence seems inadequate to the task of keeping it contained, I hope it's friendly! Nice contribution and right on the money.

The Pool by rpolitsr
This little hustler is ready for pool, alright... ANY pool! The sweater adds another wrinkle to the humor of the costume and setting.

Whoops a Daisy! by mrshobden
One of these things is not like the others... I can hear it now. Still, it's a flower in a field of... flowers. Different, but still at home.

nos by MFor
A pump, a faucet, what is it? Some kind of mechanical thing surrounded by nature... but maybe not all that much out of place in a garden. I like the texture of the object and the contrast with all the smooth greens around it, the stones in the foreground and the fence behind. Nice study of shape and texture in this shot.

fit for anything (?) ...... by marie
If you cloned out the seams on the hip, thigh and shoulders, this photo would be a real shocker! As it is, they're plainly mannikins and fit right in.

Waiting by Jannie
Somebody's missing! Maybe the photographer? This dog looks like a good companion for a long backpacking adventure, and dressed the part, too. At home anywhere, he seems.

Hard to top a perfect street shot of a brain-eating skinhead pedestrian! Congratulations Kevan and also Car for the lonely chair.

"...Is that an ostrich? A camel? Maybe it's a hybrid. Reins on it? For a rider? Nothing about this creature makes sense...."

At first I thought the guy really might have the problem, but then I saw him do this so I figured he is only as dangerous as us:

I was really lucky to find this guy, he was completely oblivious to my wants. He was the perfect vict... er, subject. Just look at that perfectly shaped cranium of his.

Congrats to eveyone. But I have to say...my heart was tugged by "Whoops a daisy!", that title was - snif! - so beautiful.
