Default Are Marumi filters any good?

I just bought a Marumi circular polarizing filter today at a camera shop for $20 because it was open box. I didn't want to pass it up and do research because the store is quite a distance away and $20 for a filter isn't bad at all. Just wondering if anyone has any experience with them or is knowldgable about their quality. If I just bought a useless piece of glass don't be afraid to tell me so

I've got a 55mm circ polarizer from them...seams to work as well as my 52mm Tiffen. I got mine the same way BTW.

I'd be interested to know if I got it the same place you did, because I have to take a trip down to Ocean co. to buy my camera supplies, there's not really many places in Monmouth

I thought no other country except Japan and UAE sold Marumi filters. I do have an 86mm UV filter for my Sigma 50-500 f/4-6.3 and it looks very nice, sturdy filter thread, good quality glass.

I live in the Netherlands. Marumi filters are easily found here in my country.

Thanks for the replies. Although I just noticed a small scuff mark on the front of the filter that I didn't catch in the store Well, that's what I get for buying on impulse, and open box to boot.

Sorry Pat...been away. I got it at a store in Brick Town...the name escapes me at the moment. It's in a mini-mall off of Rt. 70. I've gone there a few times....but for bigger stuff, I've been going to B&H to save the $$$. I don't mind supporting local businesses, but when it's a matter of several hundred dollars...I can't justify that.

If somebody had experience to use Marumi macro filter? Is it good? I have ordered one +4 for my G6. But it will be delivered only in December.
Surprisingly low prices they offere here in Russia, and a very good choice of all kind of filters.

I purchased a Marumi Super DHG CPL recently and I think it is excellent filter. I bought it from 2filter.com, where I buy most of my filters http://2filter.com/marumi/Marumi2009.html. Here is a recent review of CPL filters that rates the Marumi very high: http://www.lenstip.com/115.1-article...ters_test.html
