Default Hummingbird approaching feeder

Trying to get my camera to focus fast enough is my problem.
I got closer to where I want to be with this shot -- but most were throwaways.

Thanks all -- I just want to get more consistant good ones -- in other words -mostly good -- not mostly bad.
Windpig -- 7d with my 400mm 5.6 on a tripod with a grip ball head

I have that combo also. I've had better luck with 70-200 F4 IS though.

Nice shot. Try using a flash on manual at 1/8 or 1/16 power.

Antique -- believe me I have taken several of hummingbirds --I am beginning to fear wearing out my shutter on them!

when you take some photo in light condition , for example in daylight don't worry about the shutter just adjust diafragma for a bit , or using flash if needed ....
