You're at Stanford? I've been a visiting doctoral researcher there for the Winter Quarter this year. Great place!
Oh yes, and a nice picture too |

Any opinions on how this fares against the 15-85mm Canon lens on a crop sensor?

Got the lens just before our trip to NYC - it's a very fun lens to use, but it's quite hard to compose since you really need to think about what's in the frame, since it captures so much.
Here a few pictures from our trip - all taken on a 5D, some handheld, some on a Gorillapod: NY By Night ![]() Times Square pt. 1 ![]() Times Square pt. 2 ![]() New York Public Library ![]() Pedestrian Lights ![]() Flatiron Building - gives an idea of how wide the lens is on full frame: ![]()

Oh man, I'm really impressed. You did NY justice with these 14mm shots - and nice UWA technique, too. After seeing such great results I have to keep reminding myself that I have little use for a 14mm lens, but this Samyang looks fantastic for sure.

For many, including myself, the Samyang 14mm is probably more nice-to-have than need-to-have, but given the price I thought I could justify it
