Default Adam 2011 Senior Session (baseball theme)

It was brutally hot out, but we made the best of it and got some "keepers." The family loved them, but I was curious what my peers have to say on these. Always room for improvement. (Fill was vivtar 285hv on camera with mini soft box)

To me, the lighting seems really flat, probably from using on-camera flash. Several of them also look washed out, which could be improved by some levels adjustment. Overall, pretty good though. If the client likes them, that's the most important thing.

Which ones look out of focus?

#4 looks a little out of focus to me.

Yeah...I see it in #4...anhtimmy said, "some pictures" and I thought maybe I was missing something in the other ones.

Thanks for the other comments...sounds like it is time to get the vivtar off camera. I'm not sure why...but that intimidates me...lol.

I agree regarding flat lighting... Moving the flash off camera creates a whole different dynamic.
To be honest the eyes seem soft in all of them, although if it was really humid I can kind of see this happening. What is the exif data? Seems to me like you need to adjust your fstop, not your focus. The images are very natural though, you seem to give good direction for shoots like this.

Thanks for sharing!

Lighting is a bit too flat for my taste, definitely need to get rid of the on-camera flash.

#1 Best of the series.

#2 Need to watch out for the bright background. Viewer's eyes tend to get drawn to the background. Not the most flattering pose and seems a bit soft (?)

#3 The tilt doesn't work for me. Great smile. Again watch out for the blown out background.

#4 Missed the focus. I guess he was moving? Quite like this pic.

#5 Some directional light would create some drama in this pic.

#6 Tilt doesn't work for me. Sorry I'm just not a fan of tilting.

#7 Not bad, perhaps shooting at his eye level? Kinda an up-the-nose type of shot. Not too flattering, even for a guy.

#8 Really like the idea, wish the pic is sharper.

Thanks Alan. I don't have the exif data available right now (at work), but if I remember correctly, I was shooting an f-stop of 2.2 for most. ( 85mm 1.8 ) Maybe worry less about bokah, and more about depth of field?
