Thank you. Now, may I make a request of those posting in that section? When you post, please give us more details. Tell us a little about your lighting set up, the location, etc. That way, those of us who are really trying to learn from that particular forum will still be able to do that. I know that might take a few minutes extra at the initial post, but you won't b e getting the questions from a lot of the inexperienced folks, so some of the details might not be questioned.
thanks

Excellent point & request Pam. Hopefully the people doing the posting will be understanding... and help those of us out that are unable to post.

Well I'm glad this has been altered now, as at least I can view/read what is said. All I ask now is that the photographers that do post images in there, post the exif, set up, lighting details and anything other that they are willing to share with us, as I won't be able to reply.

Thanks to Pekka for meeting us halfway

Sounds like a good compromise. I can understand why you needed to take action in that area, it would have been sad to have lost the browsing of that section of the site as I found it extremely helpful with learning about many types of photography (not just glamour/nude).

So at least this way I can continue to get the benefit of other people's expertise.

See it still leaves me somewhat dissapointed, this was one of my main 'chat forums' if you like. The one that I visit everytime I come here, mostly because it's something that I have an interest in developing my own photography into, and the ability to go in and talk to people in there for advice was always much appreciated.

I now feel that I'm being punished (obviously not me personally, but a large group of us) for the minority's stupidity, and because of it my development is going to be hindered to some extent.

Whilst I agree entirely that something needed doing I find it dissapointing that this method was taken, I would've far preferred to have seen people who didn't behave....appropriately, have their rights removed, rather than removing everyone's and just basing it on time.

Glad to see the posting of photos hasn't been made a requirement as such, as someone earlier in the post said, not everybody has the access to such models and/or studio equipment. I know for myself at the moment it'd cost me about a weeks pay to hire a model, plus anything for equipment (I only work part time to pay through my education), at least it will until my other photography starts paying money and ultimately, shouldn't this be more based around interest than who has what facilities, with photography for a number of us being a hobby more than anything else?

Just my thoughts, I don't particuarly expect them to be listened to, and I suppose I can respect the current state of things, but I figured I'd throw my two cents in.

Can someone fill me in as to what recently happened with regards to CharlesU? Ive been away for a while......I did see some complaints in the G+N forums regarding a title of one of his works a few weeks ago, and the outrage of a couple of SIMPLETONS of said title. I cannot fathom the fact that we have caved into the likes of some left-wing feminists who have nothing else to do than push their agendas in a photography forum. Dont get me wrong...I do LOVE and RESPECT women. I also highly regard art, pretty much in all of its forms (with some obvious exceptions...porn). Charles in my opinion is a very talented photographer, and I admire much of his work. I, like most, took the title of that shot "tongue-in-cheek". I hope that that incident is not the reason for this REDICULOUS revamping of forum policy....and if it is.....lets throw a robe over Michael Angelos "David".

Drive on Charles.......keep your finger on the shutter and the wind at your back.....

Hm, I have no idea on a specific photographer's stuff - think I'll go have a look see if I can answer your question.

Think this is the thread you're asking about http://photography-on-the.net/forum/...ad.php?t=88347 not sure if that's what all the general aggrevation's over or not though.

Issues with the G&N forum have cropped up in several different threads. There is no single incident or individual who brought about these changes. Let's just say that the problem was widespread and involved a lot of people who apparently were not familiar with forum policies. I expect we will see a big improvement from here on.

I'm still not entirely sure why this direction was chosen. Surely the more obvious (note - not best, just more obvious) would've been to remove the offenders and go for that at least at first?

Gosh, I just found this thread. I've skimmed through it and like the revised rules Pekka has laid out. As I have 738 posts I guess it means I'm allowed to continue to post in the G&N without posting some really crap shot of myself in the forum...

Photopig, it's these kinds of comments that lead to this situation in the first place! Name calling and criticising people is not constuctive at all. I will take this opportunity to thank Pekka and all the Mods' for their work in sorting this issue out and coming up with the current compromise. I have never encountered anywhere on the web that is so responsive and accommodating to the needs of participants.
Roger.
