"Mom, why do my friends call me the Whiz Kid behind my back?"
I couldn't believe it when I looked at this image on the computer. A hummer taking a whiz is a first for me! I had no idea that they "did their duty" when flying!! The second image is a male with the gorget afire! Gerry http://www.pbase.com/paddler http://www.flickr.com/photos/paddler60 |

Thanks JG and Mark. There was a lot of freaky luck to get that first shot! My mature male rubys have gone for the year. The females and juvies are still pigging out!

Great shots!
The male is very nice. We don't see many males in our yard.

Thanks everybody!
Talk about in one end and out the other, here is another pic of catching the hummer as she is pulling away from the feeder with the spray of nectar. Not a great pic but I like seeing the nectar. The second pic here was taken without the background flashes turned on. Taken with a multi-flash setup. These are all great, but that first shot is just amazing! Obviously birds poo, but I'd never thought of them peeing before. Huh.
Now that I think of it, I won't be so blasé when I feel a random raindrop anymore.

Thank you, Emmalish! Maybe that is what's happening when a person feels a drop of water hit them when it's sunny!!

What a great series, in a sick sort of way. Never thought about those rain drops on a sunny day before. That last shot is beautiful.

Truly great shots, Gerry.
....I suppose we don't try and catch those "sunny day raindrops?" (Oh yeah, he went there.)

Awesome captures! Congrats on the first, although all are very nice. I cannot wait to see what you come up with next.
