I have to admit that I have never even thought of using a telephoto lens for landscape. But you learn something new every day (most times) and now I will go and see what i can do. Every image so far is a nice piece of work. Keep it up guys!

Exactly what I was thinking, so I figured I'd see what I could stir up here and get some ideas. I just got a 70-200 f4IS and 300 f4IS, so I'm looking forward to getting out there and making some of my own soon.

I often find in the UK that the landscape just isn't big enough to justify taking the 10-22mm on trips into the hills where bag space is limited; I usually fall back on the 17-85 and a lot of the time I find myself shooting at the narrower end.

This was maxed out at 85:

And this at 72:
IMAGE NOT FOUND IMAGE IS A REDIRECT OR MISSING!
HTTP response: NOT FOUND | MIME changed to 'image/gif' | Redirected to error image by FLICKR

(and on a crop camera as well)

Taken at 400mm. Not an action sports image and I certainly think of it as a landscape, although it could also be a still-life!

Shot in April this year when the Icelandic dust cloud turned the sky this amazing colour in the west at sunset.

I can only hope I'll squeeze the same results out of my 70-200. At least now I know that is the difference between user error and equipment limits hahaha.

Interesting thread!

Here are a pair shot at 135mm (crop sensor)

This one was cropped into a pano:

IMAGE NOT FOUND IMAGE IS A REDIRECT OR MISSING!
HTTP response: 404 | MIME changed to 'image/gif' | Byte size: ZERO

The range in the distance is about 60 miles away.

This one was cropped square, but less of a crop:

IMAGE NOT FOUND IMAGE IS A REDIRECT OR MISSING!
HTTP response: 404 | MIME changed to 'image/gif' | Byte size: ZERO

The ridgelines here range from maybe 3 miles to something over 50 miles away.
