sunpak 333 and a modded vivitar 283 (modded to have variable power, so a 285)

Could just be my dim screen (I'm on a train in battery saver mode), but the model looks a little under exposed.
However, she could be higher in the frame for the first pic. It's good that she's off to the side and facing into the frame, but you should also (generally, not always) try to get the eyes a third of the way down from the top. And what's with the guy in the background? There for atmosphere? |

Definitely underexposed. A good choice of shooting time, but perhaps start about 30 minutes earlier? Just to make sure you get a hair light from the sun.
The power lines don't help you out much in these shots. Would suggest you bump up the flashes a stop or two. |

More light on the model, and get rid of the power lines, would make a large difference in these

I like number 2.
Trying bringing up the exposure a bit in Post Processing, and removing the electric lines. |

I will be harsh. No point pp in PS later. Get it right or close to right. That's why folks use hand held meter. Or atleast chimp. Here it looks like no flash was used.
