Likewise. I'll add the 20D, 50D and 1DMKIIN to your list too.

the sad story is, no improvement on the lens AF system, still not autofocusing in AF mode, just the same observation..

well, perhaps re-chip is the only way forward. still wondering why some can use this config without re-chipping..

This is making decide to not get a 7D just because I don't have the money yet to upgrade to IS. Ugh...I know I could send it in. I'll keep watch on this thread. I'll probably still get the 7D too.

I have the 7D/firmware ver. 1.2.2 and Sigma 70-200 DG EX HSM II Macro Micro-adjusted to +16 using Teamspeeds adjustment chart. Here is a photo of one of my granddaughters. The focus point was the lower eyelashes on her right eye.

Hope that helps.

Purchased from Adorama on 02/16/09, and the # on the bottom of the lens is 1032462. Don't know if that helps.

The cps shop where i have my 7D and my lens called me yesterday, they found the lens to be working 100% with another 7D almost regardless of firmware.
They have ordered some replacement parts for my camera, i will update once i know more.

Re Chip, I am sure it will work, Sigma is a great company that works well with its customers. I had a 30 1.4 in 4/3'rds they swapped it out even though I was the second owner. Sigma is great. Send it in and watch the mail box

I have a version 1 (non-macro) and my 7D is firmware 1.1.0...
Works great, just as snappy as my previous Canon whites.
Makes me wonder.....If I upgrade the firmware.....what will happen?

No idea at the moment
My lens and 7D is currently at the cps shop, they did not seem to think that it was a firmware issue since they have ordered replacement parts for the body.
If you can hold on for a week or so untill i have my 7D back then i can try to upgrade the firmware on the 7d that is currently working with the lens.

By all means
I'm not in a hurry to upgrade my firmware, I really like things the way they are.

I should be getting a used version one sigma 70-200 today, the original owner had a 7d and says it works with no problems. Im on the latest firmware on mine so will post back once i have it. Is there anyway to tell if the lens has been re-chipped?

Yep i have the original one as well, just got it this morning and no problems with it working on my 7d so surely anything newer should work as well?
