well put.

dont get my wrong i think nude photography is an art in its own. but editorial and fashion have different aspects. like finding best team. Stylist MUA. Hair etc. of chosing different wardrobes. how wardrobes fit in backdrops etc. and just an idea can be a pain in the you know know what.

just an idea can make u famous. but thats in all photography. but ideas between nudes and fashion - editorial are different

And this is why I'd like to see an area for this type of work.

Look at almost any American Eagle or A&F ad. Feet, hands, faces all cut off. No eye contact....
So what. It was about the clothes.
Also this could be a place to talk about breaking into the business of fashion.

I never really like to define my pictures as fashion, editorial, glamor, etc...I just shoot what I like. Here is one that might fit this category.

What I think people dont understand with Fashion Photography, is it's not always about the lighting or the model. With people and G&N, the focus is the person. With fashion, I think it can be more about the Idea. Look at Misha's work on here. It truly does not fit in either group. He now post more in lighting. There are several sites out there with beautiful Fashion photography. I know that if some of the shots were posted in the current thread's the people would get told how bad they are. Then you pick up an issue of Vouge and the shot is on the cover.

Rant off.

I agree 100%. But quite frankly, this could also be said about nearly all sections of POTN. I cannot tell you how many times I've looked in a magazine (fashion, automotive, etc.) and thought, if I had posted that on POTN I'd be ripped a new one.

The more I've looked at the work of pros & commercial work that's found in the real world (magazines, ads, etc.), the more I've realized to make it you need a combination of skill & ability, creativity, marketing & connections, and luck / being prepared & being in the right place at the right time....& pixel-peeping and rules are not critical, their just guides.

I really like this shot. Love the tension created by her leaning forward.

Sorry I cannot contribute myself, but I'd love to this thread make it...as I'd like to learn more about fashion & editorial. So, thanks. :)

Its clear you like this posters work. So do I. However that image would be well suited to G&N or People. I am still not clear why there needs to be a additonal section for a nebulous group of pictures that already fit into current catagories.

Where does this end? It think you mentioned getting tired of looking at T&A to get to pictures more to your liking. I have some sympathy for that.

I get really tired of countless really stupid looking "fashion" shots of average looking women and silly clothing in contrived situations just to see some really well executed nudes. Sometimes G&N looks like a CK ad. Its a cross I have to bear.

I think the forum would be better served by breaking off nudes altogether from Fashion/editorial/glamour/people.

wow... this comes off a bit condescending. are we not allowed to have people of various skill levels posting their work?

there are equally as many nude threads of guys shooting their wives, girlfriends, etc that are just as average looking and contrived. if people keep making comments such as yours my guess is there will be fewer people willing to put their stuff out there and get some good feedback.

also... how is you wanting a seperate nude forum any different than moto wanting a seperate fashion forum? it's not. you're just on opposite sides of the same fence. but we are all brothers (and sisters) here... no need to make snarky generalized comments about the quality of work you see. :)

i simply would like the thread to pop off cause i would like to share and contribute my knowledge, and GAIN knowledge from people who are better than me.

it just happens to be that this will base around FASHION And EDITORIAL photography. and i feel if many people contribute that not only the people who are looking to shoot mainly fashion and editorial type stuff it can also help people become a more well rounded photographer

THANKS FOR THE SUPPORT IN THE START OF THIS THREAD! now all we have to do is keep it alive with posts!!!!

Thank god for this thread, definitely Fashion/Editorial needs it's own section. Here is some recent work that I've been doing.
