My copy just came in and here are my initial thoughts:
-VC works really really well -Bokeh is pleasing -AF is faster than i figured it would be, and accurate -Build quality is better than expected, expecially for a $400 lens Pictures are SOOC ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by mcon17 : 12th of October 2010 (Tue) at 18:55. Mine is arriving tomorrow. Then I need to decide whether to sell my 70-200 f/4 L (non-IS).

Just got my Tamron! I have only taken a few shots around work, but so far I really love this lens, wayyyy better then the 55-250is I had, and I like it alot better then my Bigma for size, VC and sharpness. Here are some quick shots.

What do you find better on the Tamron vs. the 55-250IS, beside the obvious longer length? I've been thinking of buying something like the 55-250IS as a lightweight cheap walk around or vacation lens instead of lugging around my 70-200 or 100-400 that I'm getting soon. |

this was in the store where I bought it.
hand held, 300mm, f/5.6, 1/15 shutter, iso 500. I don't know if I got lucky or what....but 300mm and 1/15 shutter is just nuts ![]() tamron 70-300 vc by Mike Murad, on Flickr

If this lens had weather sealing - I'd get it - but I think I'll have to spend 3x as much and get the 70-300 L... next yr...
Nevertheless.... "Subscribed" to this thread
