Default Name of business

I'm trying to come up with ideas for the name of my photography business.

I also need to register a domain that isn't cheezy or too complicated to remember. My name is very common, impossible to search for, and most of the domains are already registered. I dislike my name, as it is just so plain and common.. chris jones photography, but I am worried that if I pick something besides my name, it will get old/outdated and I may be stuck with it.

The only chris jones domain I could come up with is chrisjonesphotos.com, which isn't bad, but its just so easy for someone to type 'photo' instead of 'photos' and end up on another guy's page.

I enjoy shooting cars, mountain biking, and I'm dipping into the realm of portaits. I'm not planning on doing weddings anytime soon.

As soon as I can settle on a domain, I can start to get my site up, then business cards, etc. Any ideas or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

http://www.christopherjonesphotography.com/

Do you have a middle name?

CMJstudios.com

Going full-bore also works well:

Christophermatthewjonesphotography.com

Being long is okay if it's not tricky. That's where a common name is beneficial.

christopher jones photography sounds cool....snatch it up before someone else gets it!

I just registered my domain today after 3 months of agony trying to come up with something creative. The guy that has the name I wantaed + the word photography.com just bought it a month ago....I missed out. So I ended up using the name I came up with +photo.com

Thanks for the ideas, I really appreciate it! In your experiences, who is the best service to register a domain? Best to combine a domain with a hosting service?

the "christopherjonesphotography.com" thing is way too long.

i'd use CJM wherever possible.

CJMphoto.com, cjmstudios.com, cjmwhatever.com. Less room for error on the behalf of people trying to find you.

+1 If it's too long people will miss type it and get frustrated and move on.

agreed
english-speaking people have a hard time with pronouncing/spelling my last name - so I left it out, but it's very much part of the business name

also, you can register multiple variations, and all point to one...

you'd be amazed at the amount of people who get the "kelley" in my domain name wrong. trust me, the less there is to screw up, the better.

I don't think so, but my name isn't exactly short either (www.ImagesInTheBackcountry.com).

There's definitely a fine line between length and ease of use... I think I'd go with cjmstudios.com or cjmphoto.com
