Default Shooting Tips for Indoor Group - Choir / Vocal Group in a Church

Anyone have some general tips, suggested apertures, focusing, etc. for shooting a vocal group / choir [about 6 plus] persons standing in one row or otherwise spread out along a stage.

I am shooting in doors, no flash allowed with a Canon XT, that can shoot up to iso 1600 and an 18-50mm Sigma 2.8 and Canon EF 135mm 2L [for individual shots and group shots from back of church].

I guess one rule is to use full frame metering with a selected focus point and focus on the face of just one member and then shoot the whole group?

suggested apertures
Me? In your place I'd shoot wide open from as far back as I could get for more DOF. Try for about 1/400 & see what ISO you can get. Adjust from there. If you're at ISO 400, then I'd go for 1-stop smaller aperture.

Your gear list shows a 50mm f/1.4 What's your problem?

Shoot RAW. If you can test before the event, this will help: Some Volly Ball Tournament Tests **56K Warning!**
