I am shooting publicity photos for a new Mickey Rourke movie. I just spent the last two days shooting him on and off set. What a great guy! He's a class act, very easy to get along with but perhaps a bit difficult to keep up with and direct when in front of my lens. I pretty much just had to get him in front of the camera and let him do whatever he wants.
I can't share any photos just yet (hopefully in the next day or two!) but I have a few cool stories to share from the last two days.. Near the end of the first day he called and ordered ten cases of beer for the entire crew. He asked us what we all wanted and, being from Louisiana, we all agreed on Abita Turbodog. Mickey LOVES PHOTOS! He was constantly coming up with ideas and asking to see the photos we just took. Every time I stepped out he was calling for me to come back and shoot something. After every little photo session he would ask me to email "all the shots" to his girlfriend who was anxiously waiting to see them. When shooting for a movie, the lead actors get to cut a certain number of photos. I had contact sheets made of all the photos we took and handed the sheets to him, he looked through them quickly, then handed them back and said they are all approved. I have never had photos approved that easily by a celebrity. At the end of the night he came up and shook my hand and thanked me for playing along and for all my help. Can't wait to show you guys the pics!

Thats awesome! I'm definitely a fan and glad to hear he's a cool cat in person. I hate hearing stories where celebs I like act like jerks...

That's a cool story -- I saw The Wrestler for the first time not too long ago. He definitely has a way of taking on off-beat and risky roles, which you have to respect.

I am going to ask the producers if I can release one shot tonight.
Quick teaser about the the photo... He is dressed as Elvis and is wearing prosthetic makeup to make him look like the king (old king).

I'm envious. Sounds like a great gig. Also sounds like Mickey's mellowed a LOT. In the 80s he was notorious as the bad boy of Hollywood, and his career suffered in the 90s because of it. I'm happy he's back on track, because he's got great talent.
