American Victory Ship

This was my first photowalk ever. I met up with the Tampa Photography Forum yesterday morning to walk the ship and learn a few things. It was especially awesome because the ship was a merchant marine vessel from WWII and that was what my grandfather used to be on so it was cool to kind of feel what it would have been like to be in his shoes walking those hallways. I also got a chance to borrow someones 50mm f1.8 for the shoot and had a great time playing around with it. I think I'm definitely going to have to pick one up. These shots aren't amazing but they are better than most of my previous shots, and I'm finally learning more control to the camera.

Honestly ... I miss the ship!

I have worked on a couple of these ships cleaning them and repairing holes in the hull, unfortunately because they were being tugged from SF Bay to Texas for dismantling... Outside they were falling apart, the inside of the ship had been sealed away and looked brand new... Was dissapointing to see them go...

Yea that doesn't surprise me, I was getting the same feeling from this one on the inside in the lower decks.
