I have now been practicing with my G3 for a week now and diving into learning all the different settings. My photos are getting better!!! Question: I set it to Auto Focus and I am getting sharper images. But not the whole image is sharper - it blurs as the photo goes toward the edges. What settings would I use to get the WHOLE photo to be sharp? I am learning the F stops, the ISO settings and the auto exposure, but need to know what settings would be best to increase the sharpness of a photo would be great. Help is appreciated!! Hey, Astro - i ordered that book on the G3, it was great help!!

If you increase the f-stop number, there will be a greater depth of field, therefore more items in the scene will be in focus. That is why f-stop of 8 is recommended for expansive scenes.
If you decrease the f-stop, you will get a shallower depth of field. A small f-stop (f2, for example) is great for portraits, when you want the main subject sharp, but the background to be blurred. If the corners of the pix are blurry, that would be something different. I used to notice that one my S30, mainly because it had a such a small lens. However, since going to the G3, I have found even the corner to be nice and sharp. |
