Classic sls rally: The finish

it was beautifull weather in scheveningen yesterday so a lot of people came to see the finish.
only 8 cars broke down and didn't finish.

some cars only just got to the finish:
the girls in this car forgot to put gas in the car and broke down 2 meters for the finish but the people pushed them over the podium


this big jaguar was standing right in front of me when he suddenly started overheating and sprayed his radiator empty!




and the sight of this porsche broke my heart, as it probably went of the road during a time trial.


fortunatly most cars came there in 1 piece like this beautiful corvette stingray

i'll be there next year too for sure!

Unfortunately for the exposure the cars came out of the sun...

I'll be there next year too... it's rare enough to see so many vintage cars in one place...

the sun was a real pain! i was shooting directly at the sun but that was the only spot where people didn't get in my way.

o well next year better

it was fun seeing it with stage luxembourg.

put it in your agenda for next year, i was told that it is always on the last weekend of august.

Hmm, If that Stinger hood scoop is original, you're looking at a 67 Vette with either a 396, or a 427. Either way, the HP rating starts at 375. Nice shots here, and I agree, too bad about the Porshe.

hi bruce here's another one you will probably like, a Oldsmobile Toronado from '65.

i was told it has a 7.4 litre V8 engine

This would be a 1966 Toronado with either a 425 or 455 ci V8 with the first front wheel drive transaxle system mated to an engine this large.
In those years, Oldsmobile was used to develop and introduce new designs in the mechanical end of things for GM. After this car was proven to work, it's front wheel drive technology was then used in the 1967 Cadilac Eldorado.

i think that the older american cars are beautiful pieces of art.

i'll try to visit a american cars meeting near my house on saturday and take some pictures there.
the meeting always has a nice collection of pontiac firebirds and mustangs and also a lot of newer cars.
i heard from someone at the SLS rally that there wil be a custom motorbike too with a V8 engine

it was on scheveningen too during the rally but i haven't seen it than so maybe more luck saturday.

if i make the meeting in time i will post some pictures for you on the forum.
