Default Would this be unprofessional?

Sold a photo for website use. Would it be unprofessional to ask the buyer to provide a link to the finished website when done?

I'm just curious as to what it looks like. No other insidious intent.

Don't really think it would be unprofessional but I also don't know why it would be that important. Do you just want to see how "your" photo is being used?

I've done that. Just say you'd like it for your portfolio.

I've asked clients for:
- Weblinks
- Tear Sheets
- Finished Marketing Materials
- Photos of my work hanging on walls (with them next to it if possible)

Just ask nicely and be very gracious about it whether they respond or not.

I'd have no concerns asking them nicely. It's useful to add to your portfolio (provided you set their expectations that you will do the same).

I want to see how they're using the photos usually, in my contract it says for products they must supply one copy of the product. Speaking of, someone owes me a DVD, thanks for the reminder! So yea, ask for the link to the site, not unprofessional at all.

As it turned out I did a search and found it quite easily. But, I do appreciate the feedback and will know for the future when it won't be quite as easy. Thanks.

When I was said unprofessional, I wasn't thinking in a "turn the client off" kind of way, but more in a me looking over-eager kind of way.

Then in the future make it look professional, include in your agreement that the client will provide a link to the finished product, that way to the client it appears to be part of the transaction and is accepted as part of doing business by demonstrating that you care enough about your work to follow up on it's use.

Since in this case it will be an after the fact request simply send the client a request for the link and a brief apology for overlooking what you "normally" would require for use of your work.
