Default Just bought a Manfrotto 468MGRC2 couple questions

this is the first tripod head i have bought after setting it up i noticed a few things and have some questions?
-i thought the side to side was 90 seems to go just past making it so i have to adjust for a even portrait is this correct?
- the quick release when shooting normally is on the back or the side?
-when screwing the head to the legs it seems to meet up just past the 0 but on the pano part. am i making a mistake?
-lastly since most people are right handed i thought the would want there logo facing forward instead of backward so you can control the dials with your left. small but just curious.
any thing else you can add tips or tricks or other quirky things please let me know.
any answers to these are great and very welcome still getting my feet wet again after a long long hiatus. thanks sorry for my n00bish questions

"i thought the side to side was 90 seems to go just past making it so i have to adjust for a even portrait is this correct"?

Yes.

" the quick release when shooting normally is on the back or the side"?

Wherever it suits you. I use an A-S plate/clamp arrangement and its different if I'm using a lens tripod collar or mounting the camera on the head.

"when screwing the head to the legs it seems to meet up just past the 0 but on the pano part. am i making a mistake"?

No mistake on your part. This is common to many manufacturers, Manfrotto are not alone.

And I have a camera mounting plate which proudly proclaims it was made by RRS, it looks me in the eye as I'm adjusting the camera, not towards the outside world! It matters not a jot, but as you say theres no logic to it.

Do not take that thing on an airplane, or if you do, make sure it stays with you in the cabin. Or the liquid inside it will freeze and that'll be the end of it.
