Want to photograph 1968 Corvette

I have a Canon Rebel XS 1000 D. I would like advice on photograhing a corvette before and after being restored. I'm still new to this but do know some very basics as I have taken some shots with my camera already. I only have the starter lenses with this camera.

how did you get on with this? were they art shots or a photographic record?
