I was only talking about the choice to call it f/0.95 rather than f/1.0, given that most lenses marked f/1.2 are actually about f/1.26.

It really is, provided you can live with the cons (weight, size, cost). But if you need the aperture for light gathering or DoF effects, it's hard to beat.

The t-stop would be approaching t/1.

Okay, sure - there's a bit of that there. But everything about this lens is a statement by Leica that they are (still) at the top of their game when it comes to optical design. While f/0.95 isn't that much faster than f/1, it's still faster. And the performance is much better over previous versions (and regardless, darn good even wide open). A true testament.

Thanks a lot! It's a real beauty, no doubt. Truth be told though, I prefer the Summilux. it's slightly over a stop slower but much cheaper, lighter, smaller and particularly stunning optically (DoF effects notwithstanding).

It's definitely not a combo for the average person for many reasons... But if there's a need and you know what you're doing, it sure gets the job done in style.

Exactly. Leica lenses tend toward the brighter side, others such as Voigtländer tend towards slightly darker - than stated. With such ultrafast lenses it's a bit misleading anyway because of the generally strong vignetting... You're only seeing that speed towards the middle of the frame. Case in point, even the f/0.95 Noctilux has up to 2.5 stops of vignetting in the far corners.
