Default Please advice on choosing camera and other advice

Hello everyone,

I am completely new to photography filed and forum and would like some help in starting new game .

Let me say some thing about myself:

I am a web developer, graphic designer, and gallery owner.

My site URLs: http://www.aanntt.com and http://www.ez4web.com

In designing I sometime I could not find the images I want so I think the best way is learning how to make my own stuff.

I am considering to buy a camera, lenses and other lighting equipment but have no idea what I should and what should not as well as where to start and learn.

So please kindly advice me in this starting point.

Any advice, resources, classes... that you think would help would be much appreciated.

The last thing is I am a Vietnamese and English is not my mother language so please excuse me if there is any improper English using.

Regards,

Anh

Ahn,

Start reading, reading and reading. A good start can be kodak.com and guess?? Yes, agfa.com.
It will give you at least some information to narrow down your search.

Good luck

It might also help to say what kind of images you use in you Web Builiding or what kind of things you might photograph. To start with, you could just buy a reasonably priced (or used) digital camera and see how you get on with it.

Starting from scratch in digital SLR photography could be hugely expensive!

Hi Martin,

Thank you very much for your advice.

I think I should buy a Cybershot DSC-F717.

Or a Nikon Coolpix 5700.

Do you have any idea about these cameras.

Anh

Greetings-
I can tell you that the Sony is the best pro-sumer camera. The Carl Zeiss lens gives it a better pix than the Nikon. In fact, you can get a 707 on Ebay for about $550 new. You will love this camera!

I used a Canon G2 and was happy. I also looked at Fuji S602 - most of these cameras are superceded now. I've read good things about Minolta Dimage as well though for now, can't recall the model number.

I think that your price range will determine your choice. If you can get one to try out or read plenty of reviews, that will help. Once you know how much you can spend you can narrow your choice down and read the reviews. The stage you are at is proabably the most frustrating as the more you read the more confused you can become!

If you can borrow a camera all you need is a card reader to get your shots on the PC (in JPEG) and there's enough on Windows XP to let you review your images.

Try posting on other parts of this forum - You will find plenty of people with an opinion on the G2 and G3 I'm sure.

Let us know how you get on.

Martin

Hello

I may have some useful links on my web, www.roine.nu

If You are really serious, get a digital camera with full manual control and connections for external flash, like Canon G3 for example, or even better a Canon Dxx (ex a used D30, D60 etc)

Nice design You got on Your web.

Ahn, Your English is excellent. I would recommend a used Canon EOS D30 or 60. These are coming down fast in price. The point and shoots just don't have near the versatility of the D30/60. Take a local college class or adult education class on photography. Subscribe to a photo magazine. I'm self taught by doing many of the things mentioned and I generate over $50,000 of business a year and have a good time(part time!)Good luck and feel free to ask questions. Your local camera store can be a valuable resource too. Brian

Hi Brian,

Thank you very much for your informative and useful advice.

I just visited a used camera store today and see that I might goes with the EOS 10D or a EOS D60.

There are still a lot of things to study.

Again, thank you so much for your valuable time and advice.

Anh
