After my sons soccer season came to a close this week, I've ordered my first ever photo book. It's a compilation of photos I took throughout the season. It's mainly for us and as a gift to the coach, but we'll make it available to the parents as well, of course.
It's now printing and I should have it early next year. Here are a few pages from the book: 1. ![]() 2. ![]() 3. ![]() 4. ![]() 5. ![]() Comments welcome!

Ahh...I remember those days, my son went from that thru 4 years of college soccer.
Enjoy the younger years, it gets stressful as they grow! Great pictures, and also a great thing to do, give to the coach and parents. Last edited by mark2009 : 21st of December 2010 (Tue) at 16:22. |

Great idea. Meeting up with you this weekend re-enforced how difficult it is for me to be a coach and not be able to shoot my little guys. Some of the pictures that those Action Shooters had were pretty terrible.

A good coach is a lot more important than a good photo for these kids though
Good meeting you this weekend. Btw, you have some great shots on your site! I agree on the Action Photo guys. I actually packed away my 300 after the game and checked out their photos and lo and behold, nothing good from them I guess I should be glad. If their pictures would have been decent enough, I wouldn't even bother taking my own photos to be honest and just enjoy the games

I think their main issue is that they shoot jpeg, no editing, and just print everything on the backgrounds they make for the tournament. It is a good model though since their pricing pushes you to buying all of the photos of your kid instead of just individual shots. Plus with the amount of volume they are dealing with I can see the potential for profit.
I think that focus on volume shows in their mindset when they shoot since they don't care if they chop a body part or have bad horizons. They just want to isolate the one player without the need for cropping so there is a small margin of error. Not my cup of tea but it works for them. Thanks for the compliments by the way. I agree that being a good coach is more important, I just wish I could give them my gift of photography as well as coach/teach/mentor them. |
