Default help with a dictionary

Hello to everyone,
I’m a foreign student of translation and for my final thesis I’m doing a bilingual dictionary on the subject of photography. I need some help with some terms and meanings.

1. telephoto lens, long-focus lens (Do these two terms have the same meaning? Which of them is used more often?)
2. golden section, golden ratio, golden mean (Are these terms interchangeable? Which is used more often?)
3. high camera angle, bird’s eye view (Do these terms have the same meaning?)
4. low camera angle, frog’s eye view (Do these terms have the same meaning?)
5. resin-coated paper, RC, PE, plastic paper (Are all these terms interchangeable?)
6. processing, developing?? (Do you say to develop a film, a picture or just to process it? So, do you talk about developing a picture (since you talk about a developer)…)

Thanks,
Jana

1. telephoto lens, long-focus lens (Do these two terms have the same meaning? Which of them is used more often?) i've only ever heard "telephoto" here in australia.
2. golden section, golden ratio, golden mean (Are these terms interchangeable? Which is used more often?) "golden mean" is the most popular
3. high camera angle, bird’s eye view (Do these terms have the same meaning?) i suppose they're roughly the same angle - as far as i know, 'birds eye view' is way up in the sky.

4. low camera angle, frog’s eye view (Do these terms have the same meaning?) never heard 'frogs eye view' before.
5. resin-coated paper, RC, PE, plastic paper (Are all these terms interchangeable?)
6. processing, developing?? (Do you say to develop a film, a picture or just to process it? So, do you talk about developing a picture (since you talk about a developer)…) the way i understand it, you process a digital image on your computer, and develop film negatives to turn them into prints.
i suppose you could process film aswell, but i've never heard of developing a digital image.

hope i helped.

1. telephoto lens, long-focus lens (Do these two terms have the same meaning? Which of them is used more often?)
Technically 'long focus' is merely a long focal length that must be spaced that same distance to the film plane to focus. 'Telephoto' is a long focal length which can be physically closer than its focal length to be properly focused.

2. golden section, golden ratio, golden mean (Are these terms interchangeable? Which is used more often?)
(off the top of my head, may not be totally accurate) Generally refers to the relative ratios of the lengths of side of photos, or placement of objects within the frame, etc. for 'good composition'

3. high camera angle, bird’s eye view (Do these terms have the same meaning?)
Similar, but not the same.
'High camera angle' just means higher than your usual eye-level view
'Birds eye view' is like the view seen if you are flying high above everything!

4. low camera angle, frog’s eye view (Do these terms have the same meaning?)
Similar but not the same:
'Low camera angle' probably applies to things seen from at or below your normal waist level .
'Frog's eye level'...from the ground.

5. resin-coated paper, RC, PE, plastic paper (Are all these terms interchangeable?)
Pretty interchangeable. Resin-coated started as conventional paper coated to be less absorbent of the photo chemicals in processing. Later evolved to use plastic in lieu of conventional paper base.

6. processing, developing??
Equivalent terms in the chemical photography world. For digital, many people 'process' things in software like Photoshop, but no one 'develops'.
