Default first picture F1 @ spa-francorchamps

The belgian grand prix was the first time I could test my 20D and 100-400 with motorsport-photography.
I'm just back from the circuit (been there for 3 days), so I'm very tired.
But before I go to sleep I want to share a first picture with you guys.
more will follow soon, but now I go to bed

You caught the moment nicely, well done!

It would have been a really "great" shot if you had been using a lower shutter speed. Then you would have got a nice contrast between the locked inside wheel and the still turning outside. As it is there is so little motion blur in the outside wheel that you lose that. Try a maximum of 1/320th next time - that's fast enough for F1 cars.

The timimg was very nice though. I look forward to seeing more.

right place, right time.

I was at Spa in 1998 when Schumcher hit Coulthard - I was right there. After the race we clamboured over the fence and collected bits of carbon fibre.

It was cheaper to go to Spa for 3 days than it was to get to Silverstone on race day
