It is pretty odd how this is. Mannequins in stores don't surprise us, but in homes they are disconcerting.

I guess it'd be like walking into someones kitchen and seeing a cow carcass hanging from a hook. :-P

LOL

I think the reaction is that it suddenly seems like there is a person there you didn't realize was in the house. By the time they realize it's a mannequin, the surprise is gone. But I have had the same person re-experience the surprise.

C&C always welcomed...
On my images, of course, and on my words as well--as long as it's constructive :).

Yeah I can't deal with doll collections in homes either.

I was a bit lazy getting my equipment out, so I used my tripod as a light stand for the gridded background flash. :D

gridded flash at 1/32nd power

32" softbox with flash @ 1/16th power

Kids were sitting on a bench.

Fuji X-Pro 2
Fuji XF 50-140mm f/2.8 lens @ f/8
ISO 200
1/125 shutter speed

BONUS Picture

I used the same setup, but took away the background flash, and pumped the flash in the softbox from 1/16 to 1/2 power. All camera settings remained the same. This is an ode to Annie Leibovitz's Vanity Fair shot from 2000 of Robert De Niro. All of our chairs are too big for our 6 year old, so HE suggested his bean bag chair, which worked out great. :)

For me, I think the light fall off on the sides of the kids' faces is too much. The last B&W however is fantastic. Great lighting, composition and pose.

Quick setup in my bedroom last night. The homemade cat perch made for a nice base to elevate the guitar.

Wow, I love these! Well done.
I may just have to set up my dad's (RIP) Martin D28S and get some shots.

For a "quick and lazy" setup that's a great shot! Anything more would have probably ruined it.

So i have not used my 5d3 and 5d2 since i bought my drone. I have been out shooting landscapes with the 550d and the drone itself. Wedding season starts soon for me and i decided to play with the cams to make sure they are in good working order along with my off cam flash system. I recently took my Christmas tree down and tossed it but kept this foil, glittery tree rope around to play with in front of the lend for some effects. Everyone is sleeping as it is 4am here but i had some of my anime model statues around to play.. I always wanted to try this technique? for a while now and i like the results

Setup
5d3 with Canon 24-70mm
Godox V860II on cam triggering Godox AD360II
both located left and right behind me bouncing off the wall all flashes at 1/32. Didnt need so many flashes but like i said i was testing my gear.
