This weekend in camera club, I heard a talk from a famous portrait photographer about shooting people. He said we should get out and shoot people more often....for the interaction and reaction you get when showing them the pictures. I'm glad I did. Had the pleasure of shooting a few of my friends on Saturday. It was awesome. All shots were 5D2 + Sigma 50 and natural light and constant lighting from flo. light setup.

Look pretty dang good to me! 1, 2, 6 look over exposed to me but, 7 and 8 are fantastic! Never would have thought to use those lines! Number 4 looks kind of like she isn't sitting straight but the lighting and comp is spot on!

thanks so much!
I haven't calibrated my monitor in a while, I was trying to get them right to the border. I may have pushed a little bit too far. First run through lightroom was done tonight. I'll check histograms later! edit: those lines, are my favorite shot of the day....and they were the absolute last. I'll be using the spot again and again. Great, great people shots. |

I really dig #6. The whites being blown out and the general overexposure of the shot is great. It's got a very happy feel to it.

I like the perspective of the last two. Love the shallow DOF.

I was expecting some blood when I saw the title...
But this was much better. A bit to much overexposure... It is not an obvious high key picture, but I have an like the exposure/don't like the exposure experienc on them. Depending on the environment where the pictures are going to be used, they can function great as they are. The last pictures as just genious... I am a fan of youre stripes to!!! I will go out and search for more creative use of street environment. Thanks for the inspiration.

Thanks for the comments!
Several of them were too bright according to the histograms. I like it some shots, but not all. After some white balance adjustments and exposure corrections these have been fixed! |
