Default SD1100 IS

I grabbed a brand new SD1100IS on Craigslist the other day. The gentleman I bought it from had received it as a gift and never even opened it up. For 50 bucks, I think it was a great deal. Here are a few test shots I took ...

The SD1100 is indeed a great camera. I have had mine for 2 years. I am getting an S95 camera in a few days so I will be (unfortunately) giving mine away.

WOW! For $50 that was a GREAT deal! I had the SD1100IS for a couple years, got it when it first came out, and it was a WONDERFUL point shoot! It went everywhere with me and took some good videos at concerts! I sold mine for $100 with 8GB memory card, extra Lenmar battery and Lowepro case.

We miss our SD1100. I sold it when I bought a fancy Panasonic that was supposed to be high end, but the pictures were never as crisp as they were on the old Canon. Only downside is the un-wide 37mm lens, really.

LOVE/LOVED my 1100 - still have it as a backup but it started to get noisy in the lens (no doubt from years of pocket dirt/grime) and with a new baby I want better video. I imagine I have 30 000 actuations on it. I purchased it to have in my pocket on my wedding day - made for some great keepsake snapshots from the grooms perspective. Colors are every bit as good as my 40D DSLR.

If it had HD video it would be the perfect compact in my opinion. I have added the 1400 which is a step up in video quality but I am finding colors off a little and more reject pictures than my beloved SD1100. The 1100 was also much easier to hold. I am still looking for a new one (call me sentimental ).

Yea, only reason I finally sold mine was because the larger sensor size and HD video offerings of the S95 looked too tempting for me to pass up!

Do you notice much difference in picture quality between the 1100 and the S95?

Well I havent done much with the S95 yet, but right off the bat yea, the low light performance is noticeably better on the S95. And of course all the added functionality like manual mode, shooting in RAW and 720P video w/ stereo mics are very nice to have. Overall I am very happy with the upgrade and wouldnt go back
