Huvilakatu Street by Night

Huvilakatu street (South Helsinki) is one of the most expensive streets in Helsinki, because the houses are so personal and unique and the ocean is 100m away. I live nearby and was driving back home when I saw this beautiful scene. Often you simply don't realize nice photo locations in your everyday environment even when you go past them every day! A couple of hours after sunset the only available light was streetlights (and houses of Helsinki are usually very well and thoughtfully lit), and the city glow was reflecting from the low cloud plane. I focused manually to infinity to avoid passing cars messing up the autofocus (I was shooting behind a T-crossroads). With most of these night shots I used a self timer, which is the safest bet for sharp long exposure photos. Why not use the remote? Well, if you wear gloves it's too small to use, and it's annoying that the sensor is in front of the camera, not on the back where it should be (,too!).
