This instrument of mine is a really good 5-stringed electric bass guitar, made by Yamaha. Most musical instruments are very detailed and have really beautiful wood and finish, and are so perfect subjects for photographs. Here I tried to achieve a long Depth-of-Field with the macro by using f8, and a small Metz flash added some bounced light, although the main light source was a halogen spotlight from the same direction the flash was pointing to. The resulted picture was quite dark (due to f8 and high speed), but 'Auto Levels' in Photoshop did the trick and brought the bass to life. Next time I'll need to dust the bass better!

It wouldn't hang on my wall, but it is a wonderful shot. I love warm brown colors. Taking pictures of the people that used it would be nice too ) Glen Charles Rowell
