The Sibelius Monument is made of two parts, the organ-like tubes which you see in every Helsinki postcard, and the face of composer Jean Sibelius which is located ten meters away. I drove by the monument when the sun was setting down, and got this profile of Sibelius when the last rays of the sun where touching his cheeks. Having a G1 brings new viewpoints to ordinary items - you shoot a location and see things in new eyes by tilting, panning, zooming and trying to be perceptive. I have lived in Helsinki 30 years, and never saw this monument like this. I think I'll get some shots of the organ part of the monument, too.

I love this photograph. It really captures the sort of "rustic beauty" that the monument portrays. Did you take it during the midnight sun? Maybe that is why the sky is so light. I so want to visit this monument, especially after seeing your photo.

This is also a gr8 shot, however in trying to capture the suns lateness on his face, shouldn't the sky have been a less bright? W/the sun going down and all... Your talent is amazing! Something to be so proud of!!! in spirit...sally ^-^

I love this photograph! The face of Sibelius has a texture and light that is enchanting. My most loved piece of music is the Sibelius 2nd Symphony so that gives me two reasons!
