Well i have not had the time to post photos like i used to..

but tonight i had some free time..

around 8PM Indiana time now days if the clouds clear right, the yellowish sun just becomes an amazing photographers tool.. so i used it as a second hair rim light source and composed this shot..

took me about 10 shots to get this.. and her expression was just perfect..

here i used the AB1600 with a 64 PLM boomed camera right ..

let me know what you think of this one..

Camera:Canon EOS 5D Mark II
Exposure:0.008 sec (1/125)
Aperture:f/8.0
Focal Length:85 mm
ISO Speed:100
Exposure Bias:0 EV
Flash:Off, Did not fire

play with the sun is fitting for this beautiful young lady who is coming into her own...

i used the radio poppers and a single 580EXII to light her here.. the lighting was boomed by her mother..

Camera:Canon EOS 5D Mark II
Exposure:0.003 sec (1/400)
Aperture:f/2.8
Focal Length:85 mm
ISO Speed:100
Exposure Bias:0 EV
Flash:On, Fired

Probably my signature shooting style, either it is with the sun or the sun sets..

here i shot this cool senior in a parking lot.. so simple but so easy..

what makes it cool is the sun play of course..

i couldn't do this shot if i didn't have an understanding about off camera lighting..

i used 2 speed lights in a shoot thru umbrella for this shot.
this was when i was using my pocket wizard flex flex combo..

i have recently purchased radio poppers for the same thing..

i love lighting and i love lighting systems..

if you make lighting important to your shooting style i think that will set you apart from other photographers..

Camera:Canon EOS 5D Mark II
Exposure:0.01 sec (1/100)
Aperture:f/9.0
Focal Length:85 mm
ISO Speed:50
Exposure Bias:0 EV
Flash:On, Fired

I don't know what it is with Katlin, but every time we schedule a shoot, she gets the most unbelievable skies..

here is another one of those nights that mother nature just is so amazing..

i used a single AB1600 with beauty dish
had it about 1/2 to 1/3 power
triggered by cactus V4's

Camera:Canon EOS 5D Mark II
Exposure:0.01 sec (1/100)
Aperture:f/7.1
Focal Length:85 mm
ISO Speed:100
Exposure Bias:0 EV
Flash:Off, Did not fire

Josh a star baseball player in this town will be stealing hearts and making big plays this season..

here we have him displaying his skills ..

my skills were expressed by this cool lighting..

2 lights set up..

1 AB 1600 for the key with beauty dish
1 580 EXII at full power in a shoot thru umbrella

Camera:Canon EOS 5D Mark II
Exposure:0.01 sec (1/100)
Aperture:f/5.0
Focal Length:85 mm
ISO Speed:800
Exposure Bias:0 EV
Flash:Off, Did not fire

Here Latasha and i created some thing out of nothing, the weather was rainy so i went to my favorite place.. a parking garage.. LOL..

and those Oakleys are mine ! ha ha.. but they look really good on her.. Right?

i used a 550 @ full power with 2 red gels mixed with an orange in a shoot thru umbrella, triggered by Cactus V4's

main light was an AB1600 @ 1/4 power..

Camera:Canon EOS 5D Mark II
Exposure:0.01 sec (1/100)
Aperture:f/5.0
Focal Length:85 mm
ISO Speed:250
Exposure Bias:0 EV
Flash:Off, Did not fire

playing with the sun when it is golden is a part of my protocol!

when the sun is low and gold, you must use it to back light your subjects, if you don't you are missing out.

i used radio poppers and a single 580ex to fill the light

Camera:Canon EOS 5D Mark II
Exposure:0.008 sec (1/125)
Aperture:f/3.5
Focal Length:85 mm
ISO Speed:320
Exposure Bias:0 EV
Flash:On, Fired

Let it snow!

actually it was Leah's sister that was making the snow falling for us but that didn't work out so well. .but then all the sudden the wind kicked up and the snow from the trees came down.. so it was perfect..

i work with my seniors on many mini shoots.. this was her winter session..

i always say to them it will only take about 10 mins to do the shots.. but it turns out to be 30 mins or more, because i continue to shoot.

i need to stop having so much fun and respect others time.. lol..

we used a reflector on this shot..

Camera:Canon EOS 5D Mark II
Exposure:1/2500 sec
Aperture:f/2.0
Focal Length:85 mm
ISO Speed:50
Exposure Bias:0 EV

Phamster, #1 is awesome! Great use of the sunset as hairlight, turn out perfect. I like #5, too bad his hand is cut off at the top. I really like #6 also. Did you set the background to certain ration from the main light or just adjust until you like the result?

Love them all. You are very talented indeed.

On the second photo with all the wonderful bokeh in the foreground and background. Was that water on the grass that created the bokeh in the foreground? And what created it in the background?

I also wanted to say that i think number 5 is a great shot too. I know how hard it is to get action shots with Canon's slow sync speeds.

Again fantastic work! Thanks for sharing.

The pictures all look great, but the black bars look terrible.

I'll second that.

Always a HUGE fan of your work and the fact that you are always willing to explain your techniques.

#1, 4, 5, & 7 are fantastic! Nice work as always.

It sounds like the start of "Chuck Norris" type of jokes regarding Phamster's amazing control over the sun.

Pham,

While I like what you're trying to achieve but, I think the WB are off on these photos.

Since "IMAGE EDITING OK" on your profile, I did a quick edit from the jpg files to show you what it looks like with better WB and some color adjustment. Hope you don't mind.
I'm sure with RAW files, you'll be able to get much better results.

I'll delete these after you view them. Compare these with yours.......
