I am new to these forums and new to DSLR photography in general (I've had camera about a week, P&S prior). I am learning from books mainly and friends in the know. I picked up the 50 f/1.4 USM yesterday and this is one of my very first shots with the lens. I hope you like it.

f/2.8, 1/400, ISO100

Hi BlueTsunami, I'd be lying if I said I knew! It was given to my partner by her father when he emigrated.

Sorry.

Been browsing through this post and admire the shots, they are awesome, keep them coming. Plan on getting myself the 50mm f/1.4 within the next month.

Sorry.

I'm not a Hindu god expert, but the elephant is the god Ganesha, the Lord of Beginnings and Obstacles. I'm guessing the woman is the goddess Parvati, who is said to be Ganesha's mother.
