Reception Songs

Can anyone suggest to me titles of songs that make for goofy dancing antics (and even better photos) during the reception?

As much as it makes me want to kill: Chicken Dance!

"Shout" by Otis Day and the Knights usually gets people moving as well!

Good ideas... not too sure of the chicken dance though.

Anything you could think of that is more contemporary?

Goofy doesn't come from the songs, it comes from the people. There are people who will tear the place up with pretty ordinary songs and others who are rather expressionless for great songs. If they hired a good DJ, trust him to work up the room and be ready to capture it.

How about "The Twist?" (really old)

"Doooo the Hokey Pokey.."

I would think this depends on the group of people at the reception. Last wedding I went to, they played "Dixieland Delight" by Alabama and that got things going pretty good. Funny since the wedding was mostly folks from Ohio.

Generally, the more alcohol the ladies get in them, the crazier the dancing gets.

"Love Shack" gets people going pretty well into the night.

I agree though with Jay about "Chicken Dance." It can result in extreme reactions ranging from mayhem to hilarity. And then when they're REALLY drunk, there's Meatloaf's "Paradise by the Dashboard Light." That will result in some great drunken groom air-guitar play. - Stu

what kind of age group are you looking to get up and "pop lock and drop it?" here's a couple obvious ones i'm thinking of at the moment

house of pain "jump around" is now a classic
sugar hill gang's "apache" is a local favorite
sir mix a lot's baby got back
and "get low" by the lil jon and the east side boys comes to mind

oh and bon jovi will always get people singing along with air mic's, whether they want to or not haha

all depending on the crowds and their relative BAC

Hell, I married her!

I don't have any that come to mind, but hit up a few djs. I agree, a good dj can read the crowd and get them going if anyone is.
