Love this. The 85/1.2 tends to be known for the "Dreamy" lens as far as its rendition but with the correct distance and framing, you can definitely get the look from the 135L.

Out of Canon L series range, certainly Prime range ...owners would you consider the 135L F2 best bang for your bucks? By viewing the pics from this thread I cant make one bad fault on this lens based on the price. Maybe the Zeiss 135 1.8 is better but that lens is almost double the price!

For the money I think the 135L is definitely the best deal you can get from a Canon L prime lens. This and my Zeiss 35/2 would be the last lenses I'd dream of selling.

I took the 135 L to a Jazz and Poetry night at a DeLand night spot. Canon 5DM2, f2 @ 1/180s, auto ISO--500 for the face and 1000 for the sax. Some color correction, but no other adjustments.

F/2.8 to F/5.6. There is not much difference over this range. Even F/2 and F/8 are excellent, over the whole frame, just a teensy tiny bit less than F/2.8 to F/5.6. That's on FF. On APS-C it is best from F/2 to F/11.

Somehow I like to shoot at F/4, for tight head shots. I think that is mostly because I need some DoF (forehead, eyes, lips, most if not all of the nose).

Kind regards, Wim

I use it most at F2.8. Wide open you have a lot of missers with action photos.

Focus speed is similar, but the 135L is much sharper and has an incredible bokeh you can't create with 100mm 2.0.
Colors and contrast are much better with the 135L.

Thanks for the heads up, I used this lens at f/2 mostly though, it's already very sharp.

Thanks Jay.....They were super cute that day....:)

Having a problem with picassa though....I sharpen to my taste at home but when I use Picassa to upload, they add a ton of sharpening :(
My main uploader is to Flickr (But I don't post much family there)....And that's fine....Guess I need to open another account there...Any other suggestions for free sites that allow a ton of uploads?

Yep, and that was hand-held, manual focus in relative darkness (all the lighting came from the overhead softbox).
