Why not just go out and take pictures. Put it to practical use. I have to admit I was doing the same thing before, take lens out take pictures of random stuff inside my room. It's really a useless test since it isn't controlled.

I see nothing wrong with this lens. In your second image, you are OOF on the bottom left side of the can, but at 2.8, that can happen depending on your focus point. I think your first one is spot on so stop pixel peeping and go out there and shoot some real subjects!! Just get out there in the daylight and shoot something worth while. Only then will you find out how sharp this lens can actually be!! Most of all, enjoy it!! You have one of the best all around lenses that Canon makes!!!

Haven't you heard? Some people in this forum has had 554545 copies and none of them were sharp so it must mean this lens is just soft. You better send it in and get a 17-55 IS or 24-105 IS instead

:D sarcasm of course.
What you should do is just go out and shoot instead of pixel peeping and asking around on the internet. To be honest I had some doubts about my 24-70L when I first got it and it wasn't until like two months later that I really discovered how sharp it is wide open at any focal lengths.

btw I totally envy your game collection :D I've been wanting to play GTA4 and the new Call of Duty ever since they were released but I need to buy a new computer first :(

Lens is looking good. You may have to reduce the size of the images according to the forum rules though.

Are they expensive? I wouldn't know, I haven't played video games since Asteroids was the current most popular game and you had to go to an arcade to play it. ;)

If you buy the games new, then yes. A new 55-250 lens is worth about 4 new PS3 games. A new 50mm f/1.8 is worth two new PS3 games.

10 new PS3 games will buy you a 70-200mm f/4.

Most people take 1-2 years to acquire that many games.

A PS3 s probably cheaper than a new computer ;) and you wouldn't need to upgrade every 1/2 year to keep up! but GTA4 and COD are great games! Highly recommended!

PS3 games are definitely expensive! Fortunately, 3 of them were gifts and some I bought used/traded. but i never thought of my game collection to be big as i've seen some people with 2x or 3x as many games, for EACH console!

BTW, all of the PS3 games except for COD and GTA4 are for sale ;)
