My current favorite is my TS-E17L but that's because it's my newest lens and I've been really going crazy, putting it though its paces to see what its capable of.

About the lens you say you're going to miss, that's exactly why I originally suggested getting the 17-40L as it covers a similar focal range at the wider end but will become even wider on a full frame body. But, like I've already said, lens selection should be a personal choice, never a populist's one.

Yeah, I know what you mean!

The 17-55 was great, awesome FL, AWESOME IQ! and the IS..man I could hand hold 1/4 sec shutter any day of the week no problem and sometimes slower! It treated me well, and well.. I'm not sure I was ready to let it go, but I'm making the jump for good. I feel like I'll have more capability of damage with FF and some primes. Maybe the 24-70 (very similar to my 17-55 on crop) but I'd be bitter it doesn't have IS..haha.

P.s. on the 1Ds MkII, is there anyway to find the rubber pieces that cover the USB and sync ports on the camera?

I got them from Canon's parts ...They are $2 ..I needed 1 , but decided to get 3 so I had a complete extra set. Shipping made it maybe $10-12.. It is well worth it to seal your camera. I have a 1D MkII N as well as the 1Ds MkII....Rich

Called them, They have people there. It is called a port cover I think, just tell them the model, they do the rest...Rich
