After just a couple of outings with it, I am deeply impressed with this six year old camera, and certainly hooked on the 1 series features and ergonomics - astonishing. Biggest surprise though, has to be the professional level exposure metering. It is so much more adept at handling complex scenes, either automatically, or through manual mutiple exposure locks. I was also pleasantly surprised at how easy it was to fix a loose hot shoe myself, without disassembling the body. Now it is rock solid again. First big test was on autofocus and the awesome servo tracking at a tennis tournament. Next week I am off to Yellowstone to run it through some different paces. Looking forward to learning more from you all on taking full advantage of this body. JH Congrats and nicely done on the action shots. I've seen tests with the 1.4X (which I have) and it seems to give pretty decent performance, similar to the MarkI version of the lens. I should try it some time. As for the lens, I'm finding it much easier to work with than the mkI, with the better controls really making it nice to work the tilt and shift, rather than the diddly little knobs that were a pain in the butt to use. Cool!
So, with any luck, your new 24 should also fair very with it...assuming the extender fits? Cheers!

It really is a fantastic backdrop and I'm certainly going to be going down to the fields again. The second photo is just like the one above.... even has dandelions in the foreground! Just looking at the second in a bit more detail - wish I had used a smaller apperture to get the dandelions in focus..... It's hard to think when you are trying to manage a wild 2 year old!
